Despite
strict doctors' orders Warda
hopeful of releasing a new
albums
(Albawaba
- February 10, 2004)
Despite doctors warning about
over exhausting herself, Algerian
singer Warda snuck to one
of the studios near her temporary
residence in Egypt to study
the new different song offers
she has received from a number
of companies in addition to
songs she herself had previously
chosen. The singer is hopeful
that her doctors will allow
her to proceed in working
on a new album, at the same
time that they have forbidden
her to hold any live performances.
Warda
had begun holding extensive
working sessions with numerous
Egyptian composers and poets
to choose the songs for her
first album after a two-year
absence. The singer had received
the green light from her doctors
to resume her career after
undergoing liver transplant
in France and successfully
surviving the surgery, reported
the Qatar based daily, Al
Raya. The singer stressed
that she wants to make a strong
comeback and is careful on
the kind of songs she chooses
for her new album wanting
to present her audience with
the same standards and even
better than they were used
to. Warda
had announced plans to return
to the music world, after
regaining her health and taking
time off relaxing in Algeria.
The singer denied previous
rumors that she had left Egypt
to live in Algeria on a permanent
basis. Warda reestablished
her old contacts in Egypt
from the music industry in
order to set herself up properly
and begin work on a new album.
The singer revealed that her
stay in Egypt will be a long-term
one, and denied all rumors
of ending her career, at least
for the time being. Warda
dismissed all recent circulating
rumors she had received orders
from doctors to stop singing. |

Algerian
Warda wants to go back home |
from:
Albawaba.com (August
28, 2003) |
Algerian
singer Warda has announced
her plans to return back
home to Algeria on a permanent
basis. The renowned star
said she intends on selling
her Cairo apartment. According
to reports, Warda received
an offer of 1.5 million
Egyptian pounds for her
apartment, however refused
the offer; instead asking
for a sum of two and a half
million Egyptian pounds,
claiming her apartment is
more like a villa than an
ordinary apartment. Meanwhile,
prior to her departure,
Warda met with producer
Mohsein Jaber and negotiated
with him a price for her
recent album, which Warda
recorded after recovering
from surgery she underwent
last year in France. The
news about her return to
Algeria came as no surprise.
Last month, Warda denied
press reports about her
wish to stop her singing
career and move to reside
permanently in Algeria.
Speaking to the London based
daily, Al Hayat, Warda dismissed
all recent circulating rumors
she had received orders
from doctors to stop singing. |

Happy
Belated Birthday!!! |
Eventhough
it has been awhile, I still
wanna wish ---> Happy
65th Birthday to our beloved
Warda. May God bless her
with good health and happiness
in life. We love her so
much. Note: From the source
that I found on the internet,
Warda was born on 22
July 1938 in Paris,

Warda
denies stepping down |
from:
Albawaba.com |
Algerian
singer Warda has announced
that she never resigned
from her singing career
and moved off to reside
permanently in Algeria.
The singer stressed that
she merely took time off
to be with family and friends
in Algeria and now she has
returned to her apartment
in Cairo-Egypt, which previous
rumors said that she had
sold it, to continue her
career plans.
According
to the London based daily,
Al Hayat, Warda’s
return is proof that all
recent circulating rumors
are not true. The singer
stated that she had never
received orders from doctors
to stop singing, and never
bought a new house in Algeria,
and most important never
ended her singing career.
Warda
said that after her 6 month
vacation, she has returned
to Cairo to resume work
on a new album in which
she plans to release once
it is finalized. She revealed
that she will be working
with composer Salah Al Sharnoubi,
whom she has chosen to compose
the songs in her album.
Last
month, the organizing committee
for the Alexandria Song
Festival in Egypt presented
Warda with an honorary award
along with a number of selected
prominent singers from around
the globe. The event took
place end of June, with
the participation of 11
Mediterranean countries.
The judging committee for
the festival was composed
of Western and Arab judges
some of which are prominent
singers. Warda was awarded
the award at the opening
ceremony of the festival
along with Lebanese singer
Sabah.
Recently,
it was rumored that had
left her life in Cairo to
move back to her country
Algeria and reside there
permanently selling all
her personal belongings.
In addition to the rumor
that Warda’s health
condition began deteriorating
tremendously forcing her
to remain home, adding that
her status led her to refuse
any offers to hold any form
of entertainment or participation
in any event. The singer
was also unable to complete
her upcoming album and had
to apologize to composers
and producers.
Warda
holds more than two hundred
songs throughout her singing
career. She cooperated with
great composers in her life,
like Riad Al Sonbaty, Baligh
Hamdy, Mohammed Abdul Wahab,
Sayed Mekkawy, Mohammed
Al Mogy, Farid Al Atrash,
Helmy Bakr, and many others.
On
the big screen, she starred
in "Sout Al Hob"
(Voice of Love), "Hekayty
Maa Al Zaman" (My Story
With Time) in 1973, "Ah
Ya Leil Ya Zaman" (Oh!
Night and Life) in 1977,
"Leih Ya Donia"
(Why This My Life?!) in
1993. She also performed
in one play "Tamr Henna",
and one series" Awraq
Al Ward" (Flowers Buds).
Warda’s last album
was "Ana Leyah Meen
Gherak" (Whom Do I
Have Except You!?) released
in May 2001.
Born
in Paris to an Algerian
father and Lebanese mother,
and living most of her life
in Egypt, renowned diva
Warda has announced that
she will sell her Cairo-Egypt
apartment overlooking the
Nile river to move back
permanently to her home
country Algeria. Her decision
was reached earlier this
month when she began moving
back some of her belongings
and selling some, which
were not fit to ship back. |
